The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC), is recruiting for a Correctional HVACR Technician to join our team at the Corrigan Correctional Center in Montville, Connecticut.
This position is full time on first shift, 36.25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7 : 45 AM until 3 : 00 PM.
Selected candidate will be required to attend a paid 14-week hazardous duty training at the Maloney Center for Training & Staff Development located in Cheshire, Connecticut.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a Department of Correction facility or district this class is accountable for acting as a working supervisor for inmates and / or independently performing a full range of tasks in the repair, monitoring and installation of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration and related control systems.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of experience in the heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration trade.
NOTE : Based on an individual's technical experience, the length of credited service will be determined at the discretion of facility management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been at the highly skilled level.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents in this class may be exposed to danger of injury or assault by inmates who have access to tools of the trade as weapons and may be exposed to the danger and discomfort associated with tasks and machinery used in the trade.
