Summary Statement

This position directly supervises a unit of several Judicial Case Managers that support all Commissioners in Kent County Family Court and reports directly to the Director of Operations.� The incumbent must be able to oversee the duties assigned to the unit while managing a very demanding, fast-paced work area.� The position requires the incumbent to have the ability to perform a vast array of court-related responsibilities and be able to use various case management systems used by the Court such as FAMIS, CMS/JIC, and DELJIS.

Essential Functions

This is the first line supervisor of a unit of Judicial Case Managers. JUDICIAL CASE MANAGER SUPERVISOR Incumbents are thoroughly versed in the operations of the court and associated functions in other courts. The elements of supervision include planning, assigning, reviewing and evaluating performance, training and recommending hire, termination, and discipline.� Supervision also includes responsibility for providing documentation to support recommended corrective and disciplinary actions, signing performance plans and appraisals and resolving informal grievances. Coordinates case activities with other internal and external departments, agencies and courts/units.� Provides input in the development of policies and procedures in conjunction with other department/unit managers to ensure compliance with overall court objectives and goals. Confers with judges/commissioners/administrators on matters affecting the day-to-day management of the court's caseload. Evaluates operations, develops and implements recommendations for area of specialization/function. Regular contacts are with judges, commissioners, attorneys, litigants, law enforcement agencies and other legal agencies for purpose of ensuring cases are processes expeditiously and legally.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Three years experience in legal case flow management which includes managing cases as they move through the legal process. Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data. Six months experience in narrative report writing. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
