This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Office of Institutions, Classification Management.

 

Salary Range: $48,140.46 - $67,111.55 annually

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements, and coordinates delivery of statewide program activities for Confidential Inmate/High Risk Inmate/Special Interest Inmate, Profiles, Reviews/Transfers /Tracking.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises rules, procedures, and technical manuals for the Bureau of Classification Management, statewide classification programs, and related areas or as directed by supervisor.
  • Evaluates the Department’s policies and procedures in classification areas to determine whether actions taken by institutional staff are consistent with the Department’s rules and polices.
  • Develops and implements automation to increase efficiency and accountability in area of classification management of inmates.
  • Reviews, monitors, and evaluates program outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Conduct on-site audits, monitoring and reviews as directed by supervisor.
  • Develops and coordinates statewide inmate programs on matters pertaining to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • At the direction of the Bureau Chief, Assistant Bureau Chief, Correctional Program Administrator (Classification Services & Systems Development), the incumbent shall review and coordinate suggested changes to the administrative rules, procedure manuals and technical manuals that pertain to areas of responsibility.
  • Responds to written letters, emails, public records request and phone calls from the inmate families, field staff, law enforcement agencies, courts, government officials and the general public regarding inmate classification issues, systems, and policies/procedures/rules on matters pertaining to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Reviews, investigates, and prepares responses to inmate administrative appeals on matters pertaining to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Evaluates current inmate programs and assesses the need for additional programs at the state or regional level on matters pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Provides in-depth research and responses to the Bureau Chief, Assistant Bureau Chief, Correctional Program Administrator (Classification Services & Systems Development), Executive Leadership, and/or outside sources pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Assist the Legislative Affairs Office with inquiries from the Senators Office and public.
  • Provides assistance to the Regional and Institutional Staff for matters pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Monitors institutional classification operations and program areas through reports for accuracy and compliance on matters pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts and/or participates in special projects, work, and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a current employee with the Florida Department of Corrections
  • Must have experience in systems development.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in professional classification position and/or security position
