MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Verifiable experience working in a medical/clinical or public health setting.
- At least six (6) months of verifiable experience performing data entry.
- At least six (6) months of verifiable customer service experience including communication by greeting visitors, confirming appointments with clients and or vendors.
- Current Florida Department of Health employee.
- Emergency Duty.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual and fluent (speaking, reading, and writing) English/Spanish or English/Creole preferred.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a professional position with the Florida Department of Health Sunshine Care Center (SCC). This position involves assessing financial status of potential clients for determining eligibility and counseling regarding community resources. Conducts client interviews to determine eligibility for services, provides the financial eligibility of patients for the Sunshine Care Center (SCC), determining eligibility for various federal, state, and local funding sources and community partnerships available. Maintain records and tracking logs for these programs. Responsible for client contact and correspondence associated with their individual program caseloads. Initiates billing process for services.
Performs registration/intake and initiates clinic encounter forms routes client accordingly. Collects, prepares, scans and records client information according to policies and procedures and to assure meaningful use compliance. Checks in clients for their appointments, verifies that the client records are update, verifies the client insurance in active. Determines eligibility qualifications for Orange County Health Department, Sunshine Care Center (SCC) Clinic and Medicaid programs utilizing Health Management System (HMS), State of Florida purchasing and billing systems, as accessible. Educates client on financial responsibility, initiates payment plan for services, and refers to debt management as indicated. Coordinates and refers clients to other agencies and departments as deemed appropriate.
Provides optimal customer services, including answering the phone, routing calls appropriately, making appointments and giving general information to the public in the client’s preferred language. Assures that the client completes the client satisfaction survey at each encounter.
Performs timely and accurate documentation both electronically and manually per policies and procedures. Audits records for compliance.
Maintains and submits required clinical and administrative forms accurately, legibly and within required time frames, including employee activity records (EARs), People First, Emergency response system, travel and other applicable administrative forms.
Attends required staff and programatic trainings including FDOH/Federal/State mandatory trainings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
