SPECIAL NOTES:
This is an internal agency employment opportunity for current employees, including OPS, of the Department of Financial Services, the Office of Financial Regulation, and the Office of Insurance Regulation.
Four (4) or more years Florida regulatory professional work experience of insurance or insurance-related investigating and/or auditing is required.
Additional requirements:
- Experience collecting, evaluating, and analyzing data.
- Experience applying the Florida Statutes, rules, regulations directly or indirectly relating to insurance matters.
- Experience writing comprehensive reports.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with the following DFS systems: ALIS, DICE, EMILI, and ServicePoint.
- Experience in an insurance regulatory role.
Preference will be given for the following:
- Supervisory experience in an insurance regulatory role.
- Experience as an insurance representative, insurance agent, or an insurance adjuster for an insurance agency, adjusting firm, or insurance company.
Applicant must have a valid driver license and be willing to travel, when necessary, within the State of Florida and occasionally overnight on short notice.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprints and a driving record review as a condition of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.
Coordinates the implementation and daily operation of audit programs which evaluate levels of quality and staff performance. Works with management to continuously evaluate business processes, administrative policies, procedures, guidelines, and performance measures to identify potential problems and recommend appropriate action. Coordinates the activities of other auditors within the program area.
Conducts audits of division investigative files to ensure appropriate adherence to investigative procedure and quality standards. Analyzes staff performance to ensure appropriate levels of investigative analysis, completeness of documentation, quality of investigation performed, accuracy of communications, and adherence to investigative procedures.
Reviews and evaluates management practices related to the investigative process to determine consistency and adherence to bureau investigative procedures and makes recommendations regarding solutions to managerial problems or inconsistencies.
Provides on-site analysis of staff performance and works with staff and management to correct performance and improve site operations. Works with new employees and employees not performing at appropriate levels to bring performance up to division standards.
Provides guidance and counsel to management and staff statewide regarding individual performance and operational improvements. Coaches staff and conducts training where necessary to improve the quality of investigations being conducted.
Investigates complex, high profile, and specialized cases involving alleged violations of the Florida Insurance Code by licensees, including on-site investigations and examination and evaluation of evidentiary documents, conducting interviews, gathering evidence, taking affidavits, interpreting statutes and rules, and writing comprehensive reports for the purpose of initiating disciplinary action or prosecution by the Department against licensees. Interacts with appropriate agencies, divisions, attorneys, law enforcement, and state attorneys when necessary. Testifies at administrative hearings when necessary.
Performs special projects assigned by the Director, Bureau Chief, and Deputy Bureau Chief with an emphasis on fact-finding research and analysis that improves the design of business processes and specialized applications that support Bureau initiatives. Makes specific recommendations for improving management decision making and suggests areas where additional evaluation is needed.
