Position Summary:

This position is part of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) Grants Section within the Finance and Budget Office and located in Tallahassee, Florida. This position is responsible for processing grant billing transactions, follow up on payments, end of the grant reconciliation forms SF425’s, invoicing, reviewing, and verifying revenue, closing grants and report submissions for a portion of the agency’s grants and/or contracts. Interested candidates should possess a strong attention to detail and able to work in a fast-paced office environment assuring the work flow will be delivered in a timely manner and exceed in providing great customer service.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED with two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
  • Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes within three (3) days of hire.

As a member of the FWC’s Grants Section, this position supports all programs and is an integral part of the grant financial process for the agency.  

 

Position Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for updating, maintaining, and billing for all assigned grant cost sheets and/or contracts. This includes retrieving expenditures to input into financial cost sheets (Excel), preparing invoices, drawing down funds from federal partners, reconciling billings and revenues received after each billing, and communicating with divisional points of contact, when needed.  

 

In addition, this position is responsible for establishing and maintaining the grant files for all assigned grants and/or contracts. This may include communicating with divisional staff to gather award and amendment documentation.

 

Responsible for the closing-out of assigned grants and/or contracts to ensure all billings have been performed and financial reports (i.e., SF425) have been submitted. Work with appropriate program staff to close out grants.

 

Calculates accounts receivable to prepare for year-end and financial statements.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position:

  • Professional accounting skills, reconciliation, analyzing, reporting,
  • Knowledge of FLAIR data elements
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, PIVOT tables, formulas, calculations and proficient in Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection
  • Ability to develop and monitor policies and procedures relating to grant in-aid programs.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze data relating to grant-in-aid programs.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to grant-in-aid programs.
  • Ability to develop and organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, proposals, and other written documents.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
