OPS HEALTH DATA  ANALYST, Position Number 64852637

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Seeking a skilled and motivated Epidemiologist/Public Health Data Analyst to join the Community Health Division team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in public health, data analysis, program evaluation, and familiarity with disease surveillance. As a Public Health Data Analyst, the candidate will play a vital role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support evidence-based decision-making and improve community health outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a health data analyst responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating large and small public health programs, projects, and/or study activities.
  • Conduct data collection activities, including interviews and surveys, supporting data management and integration, complying with regulations, and in support of division objectives.
  • Play a vital role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support evidence-based decision-making and improve community health outcomes.
  • Perform analysis (including statistical analysis) and create data visualizations to determine the urgency of health issues, identify trends, and assess disparities and inequities in the distribution of disease and social determinants of health.
  • Develop data visualizations and interactive reporting to provide meaningful insight from the data (such as dashboards, scorecards, and graphs).
  • Collect, access, analyze, interpret, and otherwise utilize data from diverse sources, including granular data and data disaggregated by geography, sub-populations, race, ethnicity, and other relevant variables.
  • Analyze disparities and inequities in health outcomes to understand higher health risks and poorer health outcomes within the community.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned public health programs.
  • Participate in the sharing of data and information with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in and support surveillance systems to rapidly detect emerging health issues and threats.
  • Serve as liaison, committee member, or similar point of contact with internal and external representatives.

The essential job functions of this position require excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, knowledge of statistical and epidemiological methods for data analysis, proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of Power BI, knowledge of statistical and epidemiological methods for data analysis, familiarity with health disparities, social determinants of health, and public health principles, familiarity with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and possession of a valid Florida unrestricted driver’s license.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health, statistics, computer science, business, or a closely related field.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of public health experience.
  • Must have knowledge of statistical and epidemiological methods for data analysis.
  • Must have you proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and knowledge of Power BI.
  • Must have a valid State of Florida unrestricted driver’s license.

 

Preferred –

  • Master’s degree in public health.
