OPS PLANNER I (LEON COUNTY – POSITION #77901275)

32 HOURS PER WEEK (18.00 PER HOUR)

 

The is an entry-level professional work position with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Division of Law Enforcement, Boating and Waterways Section. This position devotes a significant amount of time on routine administrative tasks along with waterway management assigned tasks. The incumbent will work closely with the public on a regular basis to provide customer service on Boating and Waterway Management issues. Performs professional-level duties of limited complexity.

 

Duties:

Assists in resolving citizen and customer issues.  Provides information to members of the public and other stakeholders regarding waterway regulations.  Performs routine office tasks in designated program areas, including data entry, file management, copying and answering the telephone/emails.  Prepares maps, charts, tables of limited complexity

Oversees waterway signage manufacturing contract/program.  Assists with Conducting field evaluations and assessments.  Attends public meetings, assisting other planning staff as appropriate

 

Evaluate and assist with reviewing and aiding in the development of state and local government boating safety and manatee zone marker requests.  Evaluate and assist with the FWC Marker On-Call Program and address non-compliant markers. Evaluate and assist with inventories of state-owned and/or managed waterway markers, maintenance/inspection schedules and ensure regulated areas are accurately posted pursuant to Chapters 68C-22 and 68D-24, Florida Administrative Code.  Review correspondence received concerning waterway management issues and provide timely response per Chapter 120, Florida Statutes, and agency guidelines.  Initiate and assist in preparations for public workshops, hearings, and meetings.  Represent the Section at public meetings and conferences as appropriate.

 

Performs other duties as required.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

 

Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Power Point, and Word). Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.  Ability to compile, organize and analyze data. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to prepare reports and records. Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing). Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others.  Ability to communicate with the public in a courteous manner.  Ability to travel and telecommute.  Knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection.  Knowledge of effective writing techniques.  Analytical knowledge and ability to apply such knowledge in practical situations.  Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which may include Microsoft Office, Internet applications, and GIS.  Oral communication and interpersonal skills to explain rules and procedures clearly to the public.  Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve vaguely defined practical problems.  Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.  Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed.  Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind.
