Overview:
The newly created Florida Gaming Control Commission (“FGCC”) is a five-member commission appointed by the Governor. The FGCC is charged with investigating and enforcing Florida pari-mutuel and gaming statutes and rules.
The FGCC’s Office of Slot Operations is searching for a Tax Auditor IV.
Position Responsibilities:
The Tax Auditor IV, working under the direction of the Slot Operations Manager provides support to the FGCC’s Office of Slot Operations. The Tax Auditor IV’s duties include the following:
- The Incumbent in this position is responsible for establishing and maintaining audit programs, procedures, and checklists as they relate to slot operations to conduct regular audits of all slot licensed facilities.
- Maintaining detailed files of all audits to verify the scope, findings/observations, and disposition of each item, also makes recommendations to the Chief of Slot Operations to enhance the effectiveness and/or efficiency of the audit process.
- Reviewing and reconciling daily revenue reports as submitted according to Rule 75-14.
- Updating pertinent data in the Central Monitoring System (CMS) and updating forms PMW 3660 daily and PMW 3670 monthly.
- Reconciling weekly tax remittance for each slot facility to assure accuracy, effectively communicating and supporting financial inquiries with slot facilities, providing revenue and financial support to the Office of Slot Operations and creating and maintaining system alerts to identify irregularities in revenue.
- Offering practical financial procedures with regard to statutes and rules, timely completion of additional assignments and special projects as required, assisting in prosecution of administrative cases involving slot facilities and a thorough knowledge of gaming operations and gaming procedures.
- Performing any additional assignments as directed by the Chief of Slot Operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of generally accepted and governmental accounting principles and auditing standards. Knowledge of Chapter 75-14, Florida Administrative Code.
- Knowledge of Gaming financial systems and audit experience preferred.
- Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
- Ability to understand, interpret and apply law, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to multi-task as well as be detail oriented.
- Ability to recognize and investigate financial irregularities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in accounting or an area of business which includes five courses in accounting and three years of professional auditing or accounting experience; or
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or business administration or possession of a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) certificate and two years of professional experience as described above.
- Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in gaming financial systems.
- Experience in Auditing.
