POSITION DESCRIPTION: Develop and review engineering reports and studies. This includes preparing and disseminating the Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) tracking reports, study documentation and presentation of findings and conclusions, analysis of engineering data, and coordination of resources necessary to produce reports.

Develop and manage professional and contractual service contracts, and other types of agreements that support traffic operations. This includes project management responsibilities associated with procuring contracts, issuing task work orders, reviewing contract deliverables, reviewing and processing invoices, coordinating Department personnel and other agencies associated with work under the contract, preparing contract correspondence, maintaining project files and actively participating in project meetings.

Participate in meetings, on committees, task teams and other groups with internal and external customers to represent traffic engineering interests. Includes providing useful commentary and review of work products as well as developing correspondence and follow-up contact as needed.

Serves as an advisor on the Traffic Operations Safety Committees within the District along with development of Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and local municipalities' Safety Support Plan.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices; Knowledge of management principles and practices; Knowledge of traffic operations analysis and study techniques; Knowledge of Florida's Strategic Highway Safety Plan; Skill in effective written and oral communications; Skill in interpreting and disseminating traffic engineering related data; Skill in use of personal computers and ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Outlook); Ability to collect, analyze and interpret engineering data; Ability to manage workload to produce on time resolutions to problems; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma and two years of engineering, traffic studies, or traffic safety experience; or an Associate of Arts or Science degree in computer science, engineering technology, or similar relevant area of study and one year of engineering, traffic studies, or traffic safety experience; or A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, computer science, engineering technology or similar relevant area of study; or Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and has an Engineer in Trainee (EIT) certification in either Florida or another State; or An active International Municipal and Signal Association (IMSA) Sign and Pavement Marking certification.

A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $1,976.00 will be added to the annual salary.
