Accountant

Savannah Technical College is seeking an experienced Accountant to perform professional accounting functions, including accounts receivable, asset management, account reconciliation, and cash management. Duties include, but are jot limited to: independetly reviewing/ approving financial transactions, processing receivables, performing reconciliations, developing internal financial reports, and completing and analyzing financial reports to determine fiscal integrity and compliance with principles, standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. Maintain accounting file information and perform other duties as assigned. May assist in purchasing functions as needed. Must possess excellent communication skills to relate to students and third party financial aid providers. Must be able to work flexible hours as needed, and will be required to assist with student term registration.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field OR Associate degree in Accounting or related field and at least two (2) years of Accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business.
• Experience in governmental accounting, GAAP, and physical inventory reconcilitation.
• Experience with Military Educational Benefits.
• Profiency in the following computer programs/applications: PeopleSoft Financials, BANNER Student Database - specifically Banner Accounts Recievable, Nebraska Bookstore System, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience working within the Technical College System of Georgia strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. The employee frequently bends, lifts, and carries lightweight objects, up to 25 pounds. Full range of hand and finger motion is required for data entry purposes.

Salary/Benefits

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Benefits package.
