The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) is seeking candidates for the Transition Initiatives Manager position at our Roosevelt Warm Springs campus. Job Description
Under broad supervision of the Assistant Director of Residential Services, the Transition Initiatives Manager will provide instructional leadership to academic and transition education at Roosevelt Warm Springs in a management role while maintaining student -facing duties in the classroom. Provides guidance and leadership to clients and staff in the department. Other responsibilities include instruction, tutoring, ensuring accommodations and assistive technology needs are addressed, and educational support to students. Provides guidance and training as needed to teaching staff. This position requires management duties.
Essential Functions

- Provide individualized academic instruction to RWS students.
- Prepare RWS student education plans in consultation with student and team members.
- Design instruction/lesson plans and record progress of students.
- Manage classroom organization.
- Assessment of student education needs and potential to benefit from assistive technology.
- Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of RWS students.
- Utilize various instructional methods, including tactile, visual and auditory learning preferences.
- Provide individualized assessment of educational development for the purpose of student goal planning, as well as rehabilitation team planning.
- Work/tutor students individually and in small groups.
- Provide academic reports; as requested.
- Incorporate specific and measurable outcomes to monitor student performance.
- Maintain student records for the purpose of program, GVRA and state education requirements regarding classroom enrollment, progress and discharge disposition.
- Adherence to the agency policies.
- Attendance in training programs, as appropriate; for the purpose of remaining current with current special education trends in instruction, materials and practices that can be implemented to enhance the daily instruction of RWS students
- Ensure teaching staff are assigned as needed to meet student needs, complete classroom observations, and meet regularly with the academic /transition team for goal setting, planning, and review of data.
- Assess student needs for accommodations and assistive technology for the classroom. Teach, train, and locate materials needed for students and staff.
- Develops and maintains referral sources
- Develops and coordinates the annual GROW program
- Conducts interviews with VR participants (potentially eligible students, applicants and clients)
- Provides pre-employment assessments of job skills to determine individual needs.
- Develops and delivers workplace readiness training to individuals or groups of potentially eligible students
- Provides instruction and/or guidance to deliver services, such as self-advocacy, job exploration, and counseling on Post-Secondary opportunities.
- Develops or coordinates the development of work-based learning opportunities in the community.
- Under direct supervision, reviews and interprets education, vocation, psychological and medical information
- Travel within caseload assignment area to meet with individuals, providers, partners and other outreach
- Under direct supervision, assist in determining eligibility, identifying order of selection, conducting a comprehensive needs assessment and developing an individualized plan for employment, authorizing services
- Under direct supervision, counsels and guides participants throughout the rehabilitation process, including establishing employment goal, facilitating job search efforts, maintaining contact with clients, and moving the case to closure
- Monitors client movement and ensures timely provision of services
- Documents accurately and timely in AWARE (client information system)
- Observes rules of confidentiality as stated by departmental guidelines in the dissemination and interpretation of test results and other case file information.
- Provides information to educate the public, other agencies, vendors and potential customers about rehabilitation services.
- Perform all other duties as required by supervisors.
- Supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals and make recommendations for appropriate employee action.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the department and make recommendations or revisions as necessary.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartboards or interactive whiteboards, and smartphones.
Work Conditions
Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve managing a high volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Work is performed in an office environment. Strong computer skills are needed due to ongoing changes to applications that affect the way the work is performed. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may occasionally require longer hours and weekend work.

Minimum Education and Experience
Master's degree in education, administration, public administration or a related administrative field in the area of assignment from an accredited college or university AND L-5 certification AND Two years of program management experience in an educational setting

- Master's degree in curriculum and instruction
- Specialist designation in educational leadership
- Five or more years of classroom teaching experience in a public or private K-12 school
- Five or more years of supervisory experience managing and evaluating teachers and other education staff
- Five or more years of Experience developing and delivering professional learning to staff in the areas of curriculum and instruction
- Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate accommodations and assistive technology for use in the classroom.
