The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has an exciting new career opportunity for a Clinical Supervisor at State Hospital North in Orofino. This position will provide supervision for the Clinician team.State Hospital North in Orofino, Idaho, is a licensed 60-bed psychiatric hospital providing primarily involuntary inpatient treatment for adults in psychiatric crisis who are committed to the Department of Health and Welfare. State Hospital North collaborates with patients, their families, and the referring regional behavioral health centers to develop targeted goals and objectives for the individual’s treatment episode while simultaneously focusing on critical supports and arrangements for follow-up care after discharge.

Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

Example Of Duties

  • Supervises a professional level clinical staff in performing assessment, treatment and case management duties.
  • Hires staff, schedules workload, assigns priorities, and evaluates performance.
  • Provides technical expertise and advice to management.
  • Provides program design and direction.
  • Organizes and participates with groups to develop support and service partnerships and expanded community options.
  • Evaluates patients, court reports, administration of protocols related to competency or clinical clarification.
  • Reviews and implements policies, protocols, assesses practice standards, and monitors work load.

Minimum Qualifications

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • A Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or a very closely related field of study.
  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices. Typically gained through completion of a class or seminar (of more than 1 day) specifically covering supervisory practices or the elements of supervision OR completion of a college-level personnel-related courses covering supervisory practices OR lead work experience that involved work assignment, direction, and monitoring of staff.
  • Some knowledge of community organization/development principles and processes. Typically gained by completion of community organization/development course or workshops equivalent to three semester hours of college credit or 40 classroom hours OR direct services role in case management or psychosocial or rehabilitative therapy or counseling and applying these principles in a community development role.
  • Experience providing social or treatment services in clinical and community-based treatment services in clinical and community-based treatment settings. Typically gained by at least two year's experience, post-Master's degree, providing direct clinical services/practice conducting assessments, crisis interventions, case management, treatment plans, therapy, follow-up, evaluations, treatment, reports, etc., for clients in a community-based setting, project or program.
  • Experience providing in-service skills training to professional staff. Typically gained through leadwork/team leader, or supervisory or managerial assignments where you developed and conducted in-service skills training for individual or groups.
