POSITION OVERVIEW

The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) Legal Services team is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and energetic individual to fill the position of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) Officer. This position performs highly technical work in all areas of equal employment opportunity, including reasonable accommodation and accessibility requests, EEO programs and policies, and discrimination complaints against CMS. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) Officer for the Department of Central Management Services.
  • Serves as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator and the Disability Access Coordinator for the Agency.
  • Serves as liaison between CMS and minority, women’s, and disability organizations, and between CMS and EEO enforcement authorities.
  • Serves as the CMS Language Access Coordinator.
  • Performs other duties as requires or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college in business or public administration, or human resources management.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization with at least two years directly related experience in Equal Employment Opportunity or Affirmative Action.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefers two (2) years’ experience recommending courses of action consistent with existing law in matters concerning Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action.
  • Prefers two (2) years’ experience complying with ADA and Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA) requirements.
  • Prefers two (2) years’ experience investigating charges of discrimination, retaliation, and harassment, including sexual harassment.
  • Prefers two (2) years’ experience managing a program that incorporates legal knowledge, policies, and interpersonal communication.
  • Prefers one (1) years’ experience using effective verbal and written communication skills in a public or business organization.
  • Prefers a law degree or two (2) years’ experience working with State and Federal employment laws.
  • Prefers one (1) years’ experience in developing, implementing, and interpreting employer policies and procedures.
  • Prefers one (1) years’ experience developing, implementing, or complying with policies related to limited English proficient (LEP) individuals having equal access to programs, services, and activities.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This position requires the applicant to pass a background check.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.
  • Requires the ability to travel.
