Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, energetic individual to serve as Regional Safety Learning Facilitator. Under direction of the Statewide Safety Learning Facilitator Manager, this position will plan, conduct, facilitate, and coordinate highly specialized regional employee and workplace safety training courses and workshops consistent with performance-based training and quality improvement strategies relevant to the Agency’s safety and security programs and performance goals. The position will coordinate all employee and workplace safety learning training events in an assigned geographic area. Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as Regional Safety Learning Facilitator.
2. Makes recommendations for employee and workplace safety training policies, regulations, and procedures and works to ensure consistent application throughout area of oversight.
3. Collaborates with internal and external employee and workplace safety stakeholders.
4. Coordinates, coaches, and supports assigned statewide and regional DCFS and community-based partner agency administration, managers, supervisors, and staff in the tactical components of employee and workplace safety curricula and programs.
5. Works cooperatively with administrators and supervisory staff to ensure needs are met in the most efficient and economical manner.
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college.
2. Requires one year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
1. 2 years of professional experience managing or training self-defense techniques in a public or business organization.
2. 2 years of professional experience developing and/or implementing self-defense or safety trainings or monitoring the implementation of safety and security protocols in a public or business organization.
3. 1 year of experience conducting safety/security reviews in a public or business organization.
4. Completion of a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, legal studies, law enforcement, criminal justice, homeland security, or social work.
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires ability to pass a background check.
2. Requires ability to travel, possession of a valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and access to an operating vehicle.
3. Requires the ability to conduct classroom-based instruction, physical defensive tactics, and OC (pepper) Spray exposure training.
4. Requires ability to bend, stoop, and lie prone on the ground.
5. Requires ability to lift up to 75 lbs. to demonstrate the physical aspects of the self-defense tactics training.
6. Requires ability to be subjected to OC (pepper) spray to demonstrate proper deployment of the protective device and able to employ proper decontamination procedures.
