This position serves as the Production Control Supervisor supporting the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES).
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing data processing operations and supervising a team of data processing specialists.
In addition, you will confer and work collaboratively with other sections and staff to ensure completion of the section’s work assignments.

Essential Functions
30% Under direction, serves as the Production Control Supervisor for Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) :
- Manages the design, installation, and modifications of all the Support Service systems within IDES, including but not limited to coding to control the IDES batch environment.
- Reviews outputs and production reports to assure quality output and that schedules and deadlines are met.
25% Plans, directs, and reviews the development of schedules and the processing of all computer production systems to ensure optimum efficiency of system resources and personnel :
- Utilizes the CA- Schedule software package on the IBM mainframe z / OS, and Unix System Services.
- Confers with managers to ensure schedules are adhered to.
- Resolves interruptions in data flow.
- Approves requested priorities on computer production systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
20% Maintains the distribution of all reports via the I / O room :
- Maintains the steady flow of I / O and data input functions.
- Reviews and analyzes production and other reports to ensure adherence to goals, policies, and production schedules.
- Compiles data for management reports.

15% Serves as working supervisor :
- Assigns and reviews work.
- Provides guidance and training to assigned staff.
- Counsels staff regarding work performance.
- Reassigns staff to meet day to day operating needs.
- Establishes annual goals and objectives.
- Approves time off.
- Prepares and signs performance evaluations.
5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the data processing and management field :
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
- Requires four (4) years of related data processing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience supervising a data processing team.
- Extensive knowledge of PC hardware, software, applications, applied research and systems modeling, management principles and practices.
- Extensive knowledge of data processing methods and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of peripheral computer equipment and data input operations.
- Ability to employ applied research and systems modeling techniques to resolve management problems through the use of PC's and PC applications software.
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
