Job Description:
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services is seeking to fill a Regional Supervisor position for the Bureau of Long Term Care. The position will be conducting inspections and providing consultation to Long Term Care providers. The ideal candidate will work closely with long term care settings regarding certification standards, clinical practice standards, and long-term care issues. The ideal candidate will also monitor the implementation of the Medicaid Waiver program and assist with certification and monitoring of the health and safety of residents in the Supportive Living Program settings. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have strong analysis, planning and organizational skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This position plans, directs and evaluates work performed for the Bureau of Long Term Care; explains and implements program policies and procedures; develops, and implements program goals and objectives and confers with management on the integration of program functional activities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate their dedication to teamwork, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong supervisory background including experience managing a large staff, managing large scale operations, and the desire to promote and provide quality services on behalf of the State of Illinois.

Job Description
- Subject to management approval, serves as a Regional Supervisor for the Bureau of Long Term Care
- Serves as a full line supervisor
- Directs the evaluation of services and level of care provided to Medicaid recipients in long-term care facilities
- Confers with agency officials, long-term care facility administrators and public health officials
- Analyzes, develops, and revises agency long-term care policies and procedures
- Notifies the Area Manager of serious situations that endanger or pose an immediate threat to Medicaid recipients including their licensure and certification
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in nursing
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience interpreting federal and state regulations to ensure compliance of long- term care providers
- Three (3) years of experience overseeing nursing principles and practices
- Two (2) years of experience working with a Medicaid Waiver Program
- Two (2) years of experience regarding the process of licensure and certification requirements of long term care providers
- Two (2) years of experience with case management in the coordination of services for individuals in a long term care or assisted living facility
- Two (2) years of experience working with the survey process used to measure and monitor conditions of long-term care settings and residents to assess compliance with federal and state requirements
Conditions of Employment
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends
- Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state supplied equipment such as a laptop
