What are the responsibilities and job description for the PLASTERER MASTER position at State of Louisiana?
This Is an advanced Journeyman position which performs painting, plaster, sheet rock taping and finishing work, cement patching, and masonry repair requiring a high degree of skill and precision, and in addition, performs Lead-worker duties over assigned painters and plasterers on an as needed basis as determined by the Maintenance Foreman. This job also may require the understanding and safe operation of man-lift equipment when the job requires it.
Job Duties
Perform related duties such as finishes sheet rock, plasters newly constructed walls and ceilings on metal and wood lath, tile, and brick; applied the necessary number of coats and finishes plaster and paint to match existing finish of the building. -20%
Performs all duties of a Journeyman Painter.- 20%
Determines methods of plaster and paint applications, mixes and matches plaster, paint and cement. Applies plaster material to prepared surfaces using the correct standard tools of the trade. -15%
Patches old plaster, removes loose plaster, cuts out cracks, applies new plaster and performs all duties encumbered for the Journeyman Plaster job. - 15%
Provides guidance to subordinates and supplemental labor. Directs the sequence of work and assigns subordinates their individual tasks as necessary - 10%
Performs installation and patching of ceramic tiles on walls and floors. Makes minor brick repairs and small cement patches. - 10%
Performs other duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Department Including emergency work when required. -5%
Surveys assigned jobs and ensure that sufficient and proper materials and tools are on hand to complete each day's work. Other duties as assigned. -5%
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, stoop, squat, kneel and bend their back, climb ladders, and work reaching overhead. Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP: HR-04.
