As a District Lead in the Public Health Nursing Program, you will provide supervision of personnel and oversight of public health programming in an assigned geographic area. Responsibilities include staff supervision, community outreach and stakeholder engagement, program promotion, support in the development of policies and procedures, and participation in division planning. Additionally, as a nurse within the Public Health Nursing Program, you will work directly with a team of nursing professionals to provide public health services statewide to vulnerable populations. You will be making a difference every day in aiding Maine people. Work is performed under limited supervision.
Core Responsibilities:
• Supervise personnel within assigned geographic area to ensure division goals, objectives, and standards are met, including evidence based, best practice nursing care.
• Comply with State of Maine human resource laws, policies, procedures, and practices.
• Plan, organize, and conduct regular staff meetings to disseminate information and discuss operational issues.
• Recruit, interview, and support the onboarding of new staff.
• Provide updates and reports, as needed, to the PHN Management Team to share program services and progress within the district.
• Serve as the contact for Public Health Nursing within the district.
• Identify and evaluate community and public health needs within the district.
• Identify key stakeholders across the district and build community partnerships to meet program and community needs.
• Prepare and provide programmatic and financial information to assist in developing policies, procedures, budgets, and program improvement plans.
• Be an active member of the PHN Management Team and assist the PHN Associate Director to carry out management functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
A seven (7) year combination of education and experience in professional nursing.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse as issued by the State Board of Nursing and a valid Maine driver's license.
Preferred candidates will also have:
• Knowledge of public health programs
• Knowledge of public health nursing laws, standards, and scope of practice
