Auditor Series (IFTA/IRP)

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $54,953.76, and a senior starting salary of $59,350.08.

Job Location: This is a Central Office position, however, preference will be given to qualified applicants located in the Southwest District of MoDOT. Interviews will be conducted in either Joplin or Springfield in the Southwest District.

The auditor performs routine entry-level auditing activities for audits of department operations, audits of consultant overhead rates and project agreements, or audits to verify the accuracy of fuel tax and registration fee payments from Missouri-based motor carriers. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

What you’ll do:

• Researches IFTA/IRP regulations and department policies and procedures; prepares for audit by reviewing prior and current records of those being audited to obtain information pertinent to the audit.
• Performs internal control reviews to document policies, procedures, accounting systems and records maintained of those being audited.
• Performs compliance tests, substantive tests, and other documentation in accordance with applicable auditing standards for the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and International Registration Plan (IRP) regulations.
• Prepares reports communicating audit findings and recommendations.

• Bachelor's Degree: Accounting or related field

Special Working Conditions:

• Job requires regular travel and occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
• Remote work from a MoDOT work location and/or teleworking will be considered for this position with preference given to the Southeast District location.
