The Capital Campaign Coordinator works with Upper Peninsula (UP) regional leadership, front-line fundraisers, campaign adhoc committee, and professional consultants in a strategic and tactical capacity to ensure the success of a $6 million dollar campaign to raise funds for a new corps community center and thrift store in Marquette; as well as supportive services for all counties serviced by the UP region. This will include all communications and marketing strategies within the UP region.
About the role:
- Provide administrative support to the UP Regional Development Director and UP Leadership including travel and meeting coordination, proactive calendar management, Salesforce data management, and file organization.
- Coordinate donor correspondence, including gift acknowledgments, funding proposals, special mailings, and preparation of reports and presentations.
- Serve as point of entry for communication and coordination between UP Leadership, Campaign Counsel, front-line fundraisers, and volunteer board Ad-Hoc committee.
- Assist Campaign Counsel in the facilitation of campaign committee meetings, including scheduling, attendance, agenda, materials preparation, and taking meeting minutes.
- As directed, facilitate the fundraising activities of volunteer campaign fundraisers by providing clerical, record-keeping, and other administrative support for their prospect identification, cultivation, and solicitation efforts in coordination with UP Regional Development Director.
- Manage content development for campaign communications using Salvation Army brand standards, including print and digital collateral, and design production in collaboration with staff.
- Responsible for the preparation, posting, and distribution of press releases, media alerts, feature stories, event alerts, media invites, and other communication regarding UP regional programming.
- Maintains social media outlets for “telling the story”; assists in the development and execution of social media plans, respond to posts and messages, and shares relevant information with the team.
- Attends and speaks at community meetings, activities, and events as required.
- Creates newsletters, e-news, correspondence, and regional websites with programming and campaign updates for community and donor engagement.
- Develop and maintain an accurate reporting system for local, divisional, and territorial reporting.
- Support development and leadership staff in fundraising best practices and strategic planning.
Prospect Research:
- Conduct prospect research in support of the campaign, and the Major Gifts Program, as requested by the UP Regional Development Director.
- Coordinate with Divisional Headquarters the utilization of Blackbaud strategy in researching financial capacity and propensity, including compensation information, stocks/options, and retirement plans, property transactions, and philanthropic interests of targeted donors.
- Prepare written reports including biographical and business information, financial assets, areas of interest and philanthropic support, and affiliations of donors from the CRM system.
- Maintain a Salesforce database specific to capital campaign pledges and gift tracking.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; or extensive experience in media and donor relations.
Experience: Five years of experience, in fundraising with a preference for capital campaign
experience. Experience with committee/board leadership. Experience working with high-level volunteers, donors, and program staff on collaborative activities. Experience working with UP region donors is preferred.
Certifications: Valid Michigan driver's license with clearance to drive from TSA insurance.
