Position: Equal Opportunity & Diversity Director

Salary: $116,751.12 Annual

Location: Primary work location is Jefferson City, MO. However, work location from any MoDOT facility may be considered.

Reporting relationship: The Equal Opportunity and Diversity Director reports to the Chief Administrative Officer of MoDOT.

Principal Responsibilities: The Director of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity is responsible for leading Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Division staff across the department and the department-wide implementation of the affirmative action program. The individual in this role is responsible for implementing initiatives that support the department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. This position oversees a team of approximately six employees.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop the direction and goals for the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Division.
  • Manage the development, coordination, and implementation of a department wide affirmative action plan in compliance with federal and state statutes.
  • Develop action plans to meet affirmative action and equal employment opportunity goals.
  • Provide counsel to the department’s executive management on the development of EEO/AA plans and related policy matters.
  • Assist in the interpretation and implementation of procedures which support the department’s compliance with EEO-related federal and state regulatory requirements including (e.g. pertinent legislation, guidelines, executive orders, and applicable judicial administrative decisions) related to employment.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct outreach efforts among various groups to disseminate the department’s EEO/AA program.
  • Review and evaluate department policies and procedures for program compliance; make recommendations for revisions as appropriate.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in a manner consistent with the department's Affirmative Action Program.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources/Personnel Management, or related field is required.
  • Over nine years of experience in directing/leading/coordinating EEO initiatives, including at least five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience including:
    • Proven leadership skills, including a positive history of working collaboratively to establish rapport and credibility among staff and multiple stakeholders. Working with elected officials is a plus.
    • Proven track record of effective use of organizational performance management practices, innovation, and accountability measures.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
