This position will be located at 1730 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
You will be joining the Department’s Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Program (BVCP), where you will work as a brownfield development/outreach coordinator who will cultivate awareness of the BVCP as well as assisting interested parties in securing financial assistance from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the State of Missouri.
What is a brownfield? Brownfields are sites where redevelopment and reuse are complicated by known or suspected contamination with hazardous substances. Here in the BVCP, our services include providing oversight for voluntary cleanup of environmental contamination by property owners and other interested parties as well as providing brownfields site-specific assessments of properties for public entities such as cities, counties, quasi-governmental entities, and not-for-profit organizations. - Conduct meetings with city and county officials and non-profit organizations to provide information on the financial assistance and/or environmental assessment services provided by the Missouri Department of Economic Development's Brownfields Redevelopment Program, the EPA's Brownfield Program and the BVCP’s Brownfield Assessment Program.
- Cultivate and develop leads and potential projects for entry into the BVCP. Meet with prospective BVCP applicants to increase their understanding of the program’s application process, the cleanup project oversight process, and the risk-based cleanup process.
- Work with the BVCP Section Chief, unit chiefs and section staff on the application and reports for EPA grants.
- Provide assistance to county and municipal entities with their grant proposals and work plans for EPA funding.
- Make presentations upon request regarding the services provided by the BVCP.
- Coordinate and conduct activities on the update of BVCP brochures, fact sheets, webpage, news releases, media events, and organizing the Missouri Brownfields Conference.

- Ability to work both independently and with a group.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license for travel (occasionally overnight).
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed).
