The Department of Social Services – Children’s Division cares for at-risk children and families by providing family preservation and reunification services, investigating allegations of abuse and neglect, and conducting foster care and adoption case management. What you’ll do:

  • Working with local leadership to develop a plan to assure vacated caseloads in any program area (alternative care, family-centered services, resource development, etc.) are covered or be assigned Child Abuse and Neglect reports and to assure the reports are completed timely.
  • It will be necessary to provide case consultations, facilitate Family Support Team Meetings, and in general, provide leadership support for the frontline staff.
  • When not actively providing support to Circuits, the position will then be responsible for supporting new staff to enhance their skills via On the Job Coaching.

  • Flexibility is a priority for this position as it will require a high amount of travel and possible overnight stays

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to travel throughout the State of Missouri as needed

Qualifications:

  • Social Services Specialist - A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. A degree in Social Work or comparable human services field is preferred; however, applicants with an unrelated Bachelor’s degree, but possessing direct relevant experience and/or competencies may be allowed substitutions on a case-by-case basis; and, Three or more years of professional experience with a public or private agency in the delivery of protective services, including casework/case management in: investigation of abuse or neglect; coordination of foster care, adoptions, and family centered services; treatment/rehabilitation; and/or providing in-home family crisis intervention services, and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
