Supervisor of Skilled Technical Sciences

Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.

What you’ll do:

• Provides technical assistance in leading, promoting, initiating, developing and evaluating Skilled Technical Sciences (STS) programs to reinforce academic education and integrate with workforce and college readiness activities.
• Serves as State Advisor for SkillsUSA Missouri secondary and postsecondary, and is responsible for all SkillsUSA Missouri activities, liaison with the national SkillsUSA, and assisting the SkillsUSA Missouri Board of Directors.
• Serves as ex officio officer for the Missouri Trade and Technical Association.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the career and technical education (CTE) delivery system for STS occupations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles, practices, teaching methods, and current trends of STS education.
• Communicates and expresses ideas effectively, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences.
• Organizes and conducts trainings on topics specific to STS educators.
• Establishes rapport and maintains effective working relationships with professional and lay persons within and outside the agency.
• Demonstrates knowledge of principles and practices of CTE with extensive knowledge of programs within STS.
• Demonstrates knowledge of, and ability to articulate and connect current research, instructional strategies, and effective student engagement practices to classroom conditions at the secondary, postsecondary, and adult education levels.
• Demonstrates knowledge of current research on teaching and learning theory as it pertains to secondary, post-secondary, and adult learners and their instructors.
• Demonstrates knowledge of administration of CTE including an understanding of state-federal and state-local relationships and applicable laws and regulations.
• Works cooperatively with other CTE sections within the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and individuals representing inter-related agencies and organizations.

• Bachelors in Education or closely related field is required.
