Hiring Agency: Game & Parks Commission - Agency 33 Location: Ogallala, NE Hiring Rate: $20.386 Job Posting: JR2024-00009661 Temp Superintendent I (Open) Applications No Longer Accepted On (If no date is displayed, job is posted as open until closed): 09-10-2024 Job Description: Under administrative direction and oversight of the Park Superintendent II, will administer, manage, provide staff for and supervise the grounds keeping, horticultural, facility maintenance, multi-use trails, and related recreational activities for the Fort Atkinson State Historical Park and satellite Summit Lake State Recreation Area and Pelican Point State Recreation Area/River access. Duties will include grounds keeping, cultural and natural resource management, trail maintenance, boat/river access maintenance, swim beach maintenance, facility and equipment maintenance, housekeeping and custodial work, oversight of assigned visitor activities, operation of campgrounds. Administer the hiring, training and supervision of a seasonal workforce for assigned areas of responsibility, insuring equal opportunity and labor law, and reporting compliance for all employees & Volunteers supervised. Collect data, maintain records and prepare appropriate reports, collect fees, and oversee accounts payable and receivable functions. Assist Park superintendent with cultural and interpretive programs to include specialized living history activities, visitor center displays, development and coordination of education programming and special events, partner development, and park promotion. As assigned assist with budget development, grant writing, volunteer recruitment, asset management, master planning, compliance mandates, visitor/employee protection and safety, enforcement activities and public relations tasks. Perform related work as assigned NOTE: This position will require an employee to possess a valid driver’s license, possibly including a CDL license, and may require an employee to complete training or possess special permits, certifications or licenses that allow them to perform their duties safely and professionally or protect the public; or for the purpose to properly manage and provide supervision to staff under their charge for similar assigned duties. Successful applicant will be assigned regular days off, however due to the nature of this park facility and the services provided, this position will be subject to work schedules that include weekends and holidays, based upon staffing matrix and need, and applicant will be expected to respond to complaints or incidences occurring outside of normal business hours. This position may be required to participate in overnight and extended period travel. Requirements/ Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND one year related experience. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
