The Engineering Technician IV position exists to provide design and technical assistance during the construction plans, contract documents and general project development process as required to meet district needs. The project development is required to meet NM Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Association standards and consists of several stages starting with planning and scoping, through the project design, all the way to construction support.
The Engineering Technician IV performs difficult and complex technical assignments, such as 3-D surface and roadway modeling and determining of construction quantities to create high quality plans and contract documents under general supervision. In addition, the Eng. Tech. IV provides mentoring and gives direction to Engineering Technicians engaged in sub-professional engineering work.
Primary customer is the Technical Support Engineer and other Department staff.
Ideal candidate will possess the following:
Experience in Civil 3-D and AutoCad software and modeling procedures
Experience with Roadway/Bridge Construction
Experience in utilizing scanning software for Right Of Way mapping
Experience in Computer Aided Drafting design in Survey
High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of relevant experience. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical. Reference check and Driver's License verification are required and employment is conditional pending results.
Work is performed in an office setting. Exposure to: Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage. Communication with the general public and public agencies on a frequent basis. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasional statewide and out of state travel maybe required.
