The Forensic Staff Manager is a team centric leader/employee who handles every aspect of the forensic labs administrative staffing. Will direct a high volume of procurement, contracts and administrative support in a fast paced forensic laboratory bureau.

The staff manager administers lab resources, operational activities and supervises a team in a high volume operation serving 300 law enforcement agencies throughout the State of New Mexico. The manager is the liaison with lab management, staff and clients to ensure a highly functional work environment and product delivery, which directly relates to the overall success of the Forensic Laboratory Bureau in the three (3) forensic laboratories in Santa Fe, Las Cruces and Hobbs.
Manages the day to day administrative functions of the forensic laboratory bureau administrative team, including monitoring performance of staff, offering feedback and providing training. Collaborates with vendors and third party providers to make certain the three forensic labs are fully stocked with products that are utilized, facilitates efficient operations of administrative services for forensic scientists, including that all necessary contracts and procurements are fully secured. Implements robust business services across all sectors of the administrative support services. Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems and recommending system improvements.
Law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in New Mexico
Excellent communication, interpersonal leadership, coaching and conflict resolution skills required. Strong understanding of business management, financial and leadership principles.
A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Must possess and maintain a valid NM driver's license. Statewide travel will be required. Employment is subject to a preemployment fingerprint based background investigation and is conditional pending results. This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment will be subject to pre employment drug testing and random employment drug testing.
Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.
The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster.

Work is performed in a forensic laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals and biological fluids; statewide travel in car and/or small aircraft will be required when needed. Work under stressful situations with strict deadlines. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.; frequent walking, standing, sitting and bending; and exposure to noise from equipment and instruments utilized in the laboratory is required. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
