Why does the job exist?
The IT Architecture I will:
- Review for and assist with recommending best approaches for design and development of complex enterprise level IT solutions, integrating multiple technologies and IT functional areas;
- Enable executive business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that balance/prioritize operational demands, disruptions and opportunities with long-term strategic vision;
- Provide technical skill in applications, data, network, and security arenas, coupled with strong interpersonal, strategic thinking, and communication skills;
- Assist in develop, maintain and govern IT architecture (systems, software and data) across the agency ITsolutions.
How does it get done?
The IT Architect I is responsible for:
- Recommending and coordinating technical and business discussions relative to future architecture directions:
- Participating in ecosystem strategy development including analysis, opportunity identification and value cases;
- Reviewing, analyzing and/or developing architectural requirements at the enterprise level;
- Aligning architectural requirements with IT strategy;
- Developing, maintaining and governing the programs to IT architecture across the enterprise;
- Ensuring compatibility with existing solutions, infrastructure, services and strategic requirements;
- Researching, reviewing and making recommendations on adoption of new technologies;
- Ensuring all architecture work aligns with the strategic direction of the business;
- Performing detailed analysis and trend identification;
- Identifying patterns to help the business react to changing business conditions;
- Performing root cause analyses to solve enterprise level issues.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience in Service Orientated Architecture;
- Experience assisting defining a large software application environment; >/li>
- Experience with analysis, design and development of road maps; Demonstrates financial and business expertise in conducting and reporting cost-benefit analysis, ROI, total cost recovery, reducing redundancies and costs, and optimizing existing resources and processes;
- Good customer relationship skills.
- Defined and supporting enterprise systems and applications skills;
- Experience in research, analysis and the ability to recommend new technologies to meet enterprise needs;
- Business acumen, statistical and data analysis experience, data verification and problem solving abilities;
- Technical knowledge in systems, applications, data, connectivity, and computer security.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or Information Technology and six (6) years of experience in two or more of the following areas: strategic planning, business analytics, applications development, networking, data management, IT Security (INFOSEC), or Systems Administration. Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some In-state travel may be required.
