Why does the job exist?
The Legal Secretary - Advanced will:
- Provide legal support services for the Child Support Enforcement Division (CSED).
How does it get done?
The Legal Secretary - Advanced is responsible for:
- Utilizing clerical & secretarial experience;
- Applying legal terminology and procedures to process legal documents.
Who are the customers?
- Child Support Enforcement Division (CSED) staff;
- CSED Attorneys.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate has experience:
- Assisting attorneys in ensuring that deadlines are met for filing various court actions;
- Maintaining confidential legal files;
- Providing legal research under the guidance of an attorney.
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalent with one (1) year of directly related clerical and/or secretarial experience utilizing legal terminology, procedures and documents. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License;
- Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Office setting, exposure to VDT, extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required.
