This position will deal with the most acute and aggressive patients and will require more extensive training in order to handle the challenges presented to them within this unit. The primary focus of this position includes but is not limited to providing active programming and ensuring the safety of our patients, which is driven by individual patients' treatment plans. The objective of the PICU is to provide a safe and structured environment for patients needing a higher level of psychiatric nursing intervention and intervention. A multidisciplinary treatment team targets a broad range of psychiatric illnesses and behavioral challenges with various therapeutic programs and educational groups. Nursing teammates work closely as part of the multidisciplinary team to help patients meet their goals and transition back to their assigned patient care unit or back into the community. Nursing care is performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.Health Care Technician II: Two exciting opportunities await on 3 Pine for a first shift (7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.) and second shift (3:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.) Health Care Technician II. The Health Care Technician II (HCT) serves as a role model and mentor to other HCT I’s throughout the facility and provides quality care to patients on the PICU. As an essential member of a multidisciplinary care team, the HCT II practices therapeutic principles when providing care to the patients they serve. A typical day on the PICU consists of interacting with teammates and patients and ensuring the safety of both. Patients begin their day being encouraged and mentored by teammates. Teammates provide structured skill building activities and interaction throughout the day. The HCT II works closely with the Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse manager to train and orient new HCT I’s, facilitate professional communication and provide feedback to improve processes and quality care. The HCT II role models and builds therapeutic and meaningful relationships between teammates and patients to facilitate patient success. Nursing Care is performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
