Job Duties
The mission of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is to provide statewide leadership of a high quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by all Ohioans.
At HBH, services are provided utilizing a culturally competent team approach, which embraces the “Recovery” philosophy of care. Each & every employee is a member of that team. Treating each individual with dignity & respect for patients, co-workers & others is a requirement of the team effort & a requirement of each employee.
Monitors activities of clients during activity therapy & recreational activities & assists higher-level therapists in implementation of activity therapy programs. Escorts clients/residents/consumers/students to & from activities; maintains client/resident/consumer/student participation & other activity therapy records; attends staff meetings to provide input concerning client/resident participation.
Primary work area is the Treatment Mall with some work on units.
Prepares, completes & maintains all required records; recommends and completes requisition forms to order recreation supplies & equipment; completes request for equipment maintenance & repairs; keeps attendance for general activities; completes incident &/or injury reports when needed.
Follows HBH &/or state policies, procedures & safety practices; utilizes OhioMHAS approved office productivity software, approved intra and internet resources and information systems in an appropriate work related manner as specified in the HBH Personal Computer Usage Guidelines for Employees.
Performs various work related miscellaneous tasks: maintains program equipment & supplies; set up/take down equipment as needed for various functions; inspects program work area for safe & sanitary conditions; transports & escort clients to community & hospital based programs; participates & attends meetings, performs various work related miscellaneous tasks; completes mandatory training; provides supervision of clients;
Qualifications
Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Knowledge of addition/subtraction; departmental & agency rules, guidelines & procedures pertaining to activity therapy*; safety practices pertaining to activity therapy*. Ability to carry out simple instructions; recognize unusual or threatening conditions & take appropriate action; read short sentences with concrete vocabulary; complete routine forms; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; demonstrate physical fitness to lift 50-100 lbs. (*)Developed after employment.
Work Hours: Sunday-Thursday 7:40AM-4:10PM Friday & Saturday Off
