At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.

What we need YOU to do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC), located at our Groveport field office in Franklin County.

So where would you fit in?

As DAPC’s environmental specialist, you will be installing, operating, maintaining, and calibrating air monitoring equipment, including high volume particulate samplers and continuous monitors for particulates and gaseous instruments. You will also be keeping appropriate logs and records and submitting documentation on activities in accordance with DAPC’s standard operating procedures and policies.

You will assist the air monitoring supervisor with collating, analyzing, and reporting air quality data, ensuring data collection, data review, and data reporting are completed in accordance with the DAPC’s standard operating procedures and policies. Additionally, you will be providing reports on the status of monitoring activities, internal and external audits, and quality assurance/control activities. You will also get to develop standard operating procedures for the division.

Qualifications

4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in position involving geology or hydrology, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science &/or other comparable physical or health science field, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, &/or mathematics.

  • Or baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field or mathematics.
Note: For all positions engaged in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.
