Applicants who possess a Baccalaureate degree & an Adult Educator four-year permit and/or are eligible to receive a four-year permit from the Ohio Department of Education, may be considered.
What You’ll Do:
Works under general direction and requires considerable knowledge of teacher education.
- Provides instruction in adult basic education and individual assistance.
- Assesses educational needs of inmates.
- Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training.
- Provides instruction and individual assistance.
- Administers, scores, and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators.
- Maintains discipline and/or security.
- Counsels’ students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Prepares required records and re-ports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress).
- Inventories and orders supply and materials needed.
- Researches, selects, and recommends new teaching materials.
- Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development, performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge of teacher education in adult basic education for assigned grade level; departmental policies & procedures concerning operations of educational program to include those for discipline &/or security*. Skill in operating equipment associated with adult basic education & audio-visual equipment. Ability to assess educational needs of students & develop appropriate lesson plans & individualized assistance; prepare & maintain accurate & concise reports & records; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; establish good rapport with students & work cooperatively with other facility staff members.
