What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career Coordinator position at State of South Carolina?
- Manages and provides oversight of career services at all NETC sites. Maintains career services information with updated materials, and coordinates scheduling and utilization of career services at college and community locations. Assists the community, classes, and individuals with career assessments, resume writing, interview techniques, job search procedures, etc. Networks with local industries including SC Works to develop and implement successful job placement activities.
- Connects, manages, and orchestrates participants with opportunities in workforce programs through job shadowing and mentoring opportunities. Develops career exploration activities to build interest in local workforce for college/student visits. Screens and assists students in applying for internships, apprenticeships, and work-based learning opportunities in their chosen area. Develops processes and implements career counseling track (group or individual). Motivates, advises, assesses, and mentors students needs, goals, and interests. Develops workforce student/parent continuing education on employment, internships, and apprenticeships.
- Develops and monitors specific SIC code industry initiatives while creating networking opportunities with industry leadership, including the C-Suite personnel. Develops partnerships with local industry and provides input and membership of all workforce advisory councils.
- Coordinates and manages Perkins V resources and activities for students in workforce programs.
- Creates and monitors high quality professional development for students in an effort to foster a professional, educated workforce through in class learning and development environment. Promotes career awareness and job placement activities and initiatives. Develops a series of modules or course on "success skills" focused on career development and academic success that leads to completion. Works with students to obtain skills associated with their career path based on a successful transition from the college to work environment.
- Provides a high level of customer service support and ensures students are aware of available college resources to assist in career and academic success.
- Invites and preps students for showcase opportunities upon graduation.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of participant interactions, events, and other work interactions. Tracks completions and placement of students in workforce pathways.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
NETC Preferred Requirements: A master's degree in Psychology or Sociology and experience in career and/or workforce development.Datatel/Ellucian database experience preferred. Strong customer service, computer, and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of basic principles and theories of workforce placement, workforce assessment, employment services, and human resources. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, industry human resources, and community. Ability to identify, develop, and implement programs and activities that benefit the campus community. Ability to provide supportive counseling for a wide range of student problems and concerns.General supervision provided by the Continuing Education Coordinator with independence to make limited local operational decisions.
Ability to lift 25 pounds. May require some evening and weekend responsibilities. May require travel within and outside of service area and state.

NETC is a qualified employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time at NETC. To qualify for PSLF, you must:

Salary : $29,061 - $53,769
