With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina. 

 
This position is located with the SC Department of Mental Health, Beckman Center for Mental Health Services.  Position will be responsible for providing services throughout the Center's seven county catchment area (Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry and Saluda Counties.)  

Under limited supervision provides peer support services to individuals in the community after hours. Promotes recovery, goal setting, and community crisis stabilization in community settings. Provides follow up for individuals identified as high-risk.  Duties include, but are not limited to:  
  1. Provides trauma-informed, strengths-based non-clinical assessment services and interventions to include harm reduction, linkages to resources, and crisis planning to individuals and their families in crisis as part of the Mobile Crisis response team. 
  2. Provides follow-up contacts with individuals/families receiving Mobile Crisis services to ensure continuity of care, determine on-going needs, and provide supportive interventions as needed after hours.
  3. Provides crisis preventative services through outreach and recovery support to individuals identified as high risk by local mental health center. 
  4. Promotes community engagement with community supports for high-risk individuals to address psychosocial needs.
  5. Completes all DMH required trainings and those required to obtain and maintain certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist. 
  6. Other duties as assigned.
State:  State: Bachelor’s degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences & professional experience in human services or social services programs.

Agency:  Be a current of former consumer of mental health services.  Must possess valid SC Driver’s License. If not certified as a SC Peer Support Specialist, must attend mandatory training and complete certification requirements. Will be required to maintain SC Peer Support Certification. Must have good computer skills and ability to work set schedule determined by the Center. Knowledge of recovery. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
