- Assist in supervision of all Food Service personnel in the performance of their daily duties.
- Act as correctional officer by maintaining internal security of cafeteria (discipline of inmate, employees and all other inmates in addition to maintaining security of all food supplies and equipment).
- Act as correctional officer by ensuring internal institutional security when performing shakedowns, escorting inmates from one location to another, etc.
- Must be certified as hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) and/or ServSafe manager, or must attain certification within one (1) year of employment
- Must successfully complete SCDC basic training uppon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:A high school diploma and supervisory experience in quantity and quality cooking.
(Or an approved equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
SCDC Minimum Requirements: - A high school diploma;
- Four (4) years of experience in quantity and quality cooking;
- two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
