Overview: The South Carolina Department of Commerce is looking for an Information Technology Intern to join our Information Management and Technology team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a state agency environment while supporting our IT team in various projects and tasks. This internship is designed to provide you with exposure to different aspects of IT operations and to help you develop essential skills for a successful career in the field.
Responsibilities:
Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software issues for employees.
Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of software applications.
Help manage user accounts and access permissions in various systems.
Assist in conducting software updates and patches across the organization.
Support IT team members in network troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
Assist in documenting IT processes, procedures, and user guides.
Participate in IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and implementations.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and IT trends relevant to the company's operations.
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely resolution of IT issues and requests.
A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Strong interest in pursuing a career in IT and eagerness to learn.
Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work assignments.
Graduate students will earn $15.00 per hour.
Undergrads will earn $15.00 per hour.
Position will not include benefits.
