What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Supervisor position at State of South Carolina?
This position reports to Regional Chief and serves regionally as needed. On a day-to-day basis, this postion rotates through Aiken State Park, Misty Lake State Park, and Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site, with required weekend rotations. Direct, coordinate, and schedule needed maintenance of grounds, facilities & equipment to ensure established standards are being met. Supervise and train staff in all job aspects. Perform and direct routine or standardized duties.
1) Supervise park technicians, temporarily maintenance assigned rangers, and part-time employees to include training and scheduling work and projects.
2) Directs and performs miscellaneous repairs and park improvements, to include carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing and painting to meet established standards.
3) Directs and performs clean-up and housekeeping activities to assure the attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety of park grounds and facilities. This position is the Safety Officer for Misty Lake and assists with safety duties at Aiken and Redcliffe.
4) Plans and schedules the park maintenance program on a daily basis. Participates in planning winter work projects and the completion of these projects in a timely fashion.
5) Assists with the operation of the park by completing related forms and reports, ordering & stocking supplies for general maintenance & janitorial duties.
6) Directs or performs repairs of manual & motorized equipment, especially that which is used in his/her area, to include pumps, vacuums, floor cleaning machines, mowers, landscaping equipment, woodworking equipment, and hand tools.
7) Assists Regional Maintenance Supervisor in major maintenance or improvement projects around the region, to include but not limited to Misty Lake, Aiken, and Redcliffe.
High school graduate and four (4) years of related maintenance experience. A minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience.
Additional Requirements:
1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, bending, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights.
Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Works with office equipment such as computers, calculators, etc.
2) A working knowledge of mowing equipment, tractors, hand tools, power tools and related maintenance equipment is required. Ability to deal tactfully and cordially with fellow employees & visitors and to communicate information effectively.
3) Must possess a valid SC Driver's License.
