Job Description: This position reports to the Appeals Department in Columbia. Must be able to independently supervise a team of administrative hearing officers. Incumbent is responsible for performing EPMS reviews, training, and providing daily feedback in addition to regular hearing officer duties. Must work effectively with individual claimants, employers, professionals, and employees. Must be able to prepare hearing records, perform legal research pertinent to cases assigned, preside over quasi-judicial hearings for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits, tax, and other cases that are in dispute. Incumbent must receive and develop evidence, make rulings, and draft and render decisions in such cases. Must have ability to apply relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Keyboarding skills, ability to operate personal computers, and various software is required. Other related duties as assigned.Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience in unemployment insurance, legal or quasi-judicial areas or a Juris Doctor degree with one (1) year of experience.
