This position will use a proactive approach of written and digital communication to generate further interest in South Dakota as the best state to live, work, and raise a family. This role supports the marketing department in executing and monitoring communication strategies.
Responsibilities include: writing and editing a variety of press releases, website copy, feature stories, media advisories, talking points, creative copywriting on brochures, print ads, and feature articles; writing and monitoring social media and related analytics; coordinating communication strategies and practices; targeting statewide and industry media, legislators, boards, and local economic development organizations; providing support to the Marketing Director and the different facets within the Governor's Office of Economic Development including legislators, boards, and other marketing/communications efforts as needed.
Must be willing to work in person in our Sioux Falls or Pierre Office. Occasional travel is required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Exemplary writing skills (including creative copywriting) and editing skills; strategic communication execution; excellent interviewing skills; working knowledge of best social media practices, and 3-5 years of public relations/communication experience are preferred.
Knowledge Of
This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
