The Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM) is dedicated to providing professional services to assist State entities in meeting their facility needs for the benefit of the public, and is the building manager for all State owned facilities.

Principal Duties
As the Grounds Supervisor, you will:
- Oversee the care of plants in gardens, lawns, and other green areas.
- Oversee the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas.
- Oversee the removal of trash and snow.
- Apply pesticides and fertilizers.
- Ensure proper pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs.
- Train others in the principles and techniques used in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
- Train others in adherence to industry and/or safety standards.
- Train others in the maintenance of related equipment, tools, and/or supplies.
- Supervise subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
Best Qualified Candidate
The best qualified candidate will have:
- at least 3 years of landscaping and grounds care.
- at least 3 years of designing and maintaining irrigation systems.
- at least 3 years of supervising grounds crews.
- a Utah Pesticide Applicator's license. (If the selected applicant does not have this license, they will expected to earn one within 6 months of hire.)
- Arborist certification
- Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) certification
- Master Gardner certification
- Watershed Wise Landscape Professional (WWLP) certification
- CLCA Water Management certification

Working Conditions:
- Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with hazardous chemicals, etc.
- The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas.
