We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill a Regional Economist position and join a team that strengthens Utah's economy by supporting the economic stability and quality of our workforce. This position will support Economic Service areas within the State of Utah.The Regional Economist will perform the following tasks: Researching, developing, analyzing and disseminating labor-related economic information pertinent to the State of Utah as well as economic analysis upon Workforce Services' programs and services. Collecting data and reviewing research materials, determining accuracy and validity of sources and appropriateness for use. Making presentations and publishing statewide and local area labor market information.Writing or drafting technical reports, articles or related material based on research, investigation or analysis.The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for this position will have: A Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Economics with an emphasis in statistics or math or at least 4 years of experience conducting statistical and/or economic analysis.Expert knowledge in any of the following: industry and occupational projectionswage information or economic indicatorsunemployment ratessocial programsThe ability to gather, generate, integrate and analyze data.The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbal and written.Be willing to travel occasionally to Salt Lake City for meetings and training and the assigned Economic Service Area. PreferencePreference may be given to applicants with provable skills in basic statistical software packages such as R, SAS, SPSS, STATA, EViews or such to perform statistical and economic analysis, general programming language, SQL, and Tableau experience.This position may be filled as a 2-year career mobility if an internal DWS employee is selected.
