The Market Conduct Examiner (MCE) performs highly complex work involving planning and coordinating market conduct examinations of insurers. Market conduct examinations are done under the direction of the Director of Market Regulation (Director) and require significant interaction with management level staff of insurer organizations.

This position requires travel for field examinations and/or meetings of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Interaction with high-level industry personnel may be anticipated, sometimes in adversarial situations. The successful candidate must have insurance industry or regulatory experience.

Work is performed in a normal office setting. Field examinations may take place anywhere in the country, involving travel and extended absence from the State. Interaction with high-level industry personnel may be anticipated, sometimes in adversarial situations. Work hours will vary according to examination and workload needs.
Four (4) or more years' experience in insurance examination, compliance, regulation or another similar insurance or securities related field.
OR
Six (6) years or more in insurance sales, claims, investigations, underwriting, , or other insurance related fields.
Bachelor's degree or higher.
Any one or more of the following accreditations:
* Associate Professional in Insurance Regulation (APIR)
* Professional in Insurance Regulation (PIR)
* Market Conduct Manager (MCM)
* Accredited Insurance Examiner (AIE)
* Certified Insurance Examiner (CIE)
* Advanced Market Conduct Management (AMCM)
As appropriate for this regulatory role, a willingness to work toward professional designations is desirable.
