Overview

The Senior Insurance Rate and Form Analyst will primarily be tasked with reviewing property and casualty rate and form filings. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are detail oriented and have a comprehensive knowledge of property and casualty coverages. Most of the rate and form review work is done independently with ample opportunities for collaboration with a larger team to discuss issues or policy questions as they arise. At DFR our mission is to protect Vermont consumers and ensure they are purchasing compliant products. The Analyst will be expected to handle a high filing load and be able to manage statutory deadlines. Organizational skills as well as the ability to clearly communicate compliance issues with third party filers and companies are integral to the position.


This position is home-based.

Class Definition

Expert analytical and technical work for the Department of Financial Regulation involving industry rates, forms, statutes, regulations, and data collection. Duties include reviewing a broad range of complex rate and form filings by insurance companies to determine compliance with Vermont statutes, regulations, bulletins, and department policy. An incumbent will work with independence and provide support to lower-level analysts. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Rates and Forms.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Some travel may be required for which private means of transportation must be provided. Duties involve interaction with company personnel and attorneys and the public. Testimony at hearings is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) and two (2) years at or above a technical level involving insurance company, agency, or regulatory policy form analysis; insurance rate analysis; insurance statistical analysis; actuarial analysis; insurance underwriting; or comparable experience.

OR

Five (5) years or more at or above a technical level involving insurance company, agency, or regulatory policy form analysis; insurance rate analysis; insurance statistical analysis; actuarial analysis; insurance underwriting; or comparable experience.

OR

One (1) year as an Associate Insurance Rate and Form Analyst.
