The Office of Fleet Management Services (OFMS) provides safe, efficient and reliable passenger vehicle transportation that enables employees of the Commonwealth to do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.

OFMS oversees the maintenance, repair and replacement of the statewide fleet of approximately 4,000 vehicles, manages the fuel contracts, short-term rental contracts and alternative fuel contracts that are used by state government and local governments throughout the Commonwealth.

Job Duties

The Virginia Department of General Services / Office of Fleet Management Services (OFMS) is seeking an Equipment Repair Technician to work in our Richmond location service shop.

This position will perform routine maintenance and general auto repair.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience performing routine preventative maintenance and general automotive repair on passenger vehicles. Working knowledge of mechanical systems and various tools to perform work.

Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical repair manuals and document records. Good computer, customer service, interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work as a team member.

This position requires lifting / pushing / pulling 20 to 50 pounds on a regular basis, along with frequent bending, stooping, crawling, reaching, and standing.

Requires good manual hand dexterity and coordination. Requires driver's license and ability to safely operate passenger vehicles.

Additional Considerations

ASE or other automotive certifications are preferred.
