Western State Hospital (WSH) within the Behavioral Health Administration and the Department of Social and Health Services has an opening for a Planning & Operational Logistics Manager in the Civil Center of Excellence. 

 

In this role, you will have overall responsibility/oversight for facility management, development and implementation of hospital facility expansion/renovation, and compliance with facility/physical plant certification standards/regulatory authority. You’ll report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and be responsible for overall program management including the effectiveness of facility operation. You will interact with and provide expert advice and consultation to outside regulatory agencies such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the State Department of Health (DOH), and various internal & external partners. You will serve as the primary facilities manager and subject matter expert responsible for planning and coordinating all facilities, construction, and environment of care/life safety activities for the hospital.

 Some of What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for providing expert advice and consultation for hospital space planning and utilization, communications systems, and facility security planning.
  • Deliver consultation and input to the COO in strategic planning, organizing, and assigning the support services work.
  • Review and approve/disapprove facility work orders related to the physical plant/environment of care.
  • Serve as the liaison for the maintenance & operation division to ensure work orders are submitted and completed in a fiscally responsible and timely manner.
  • Contribute to the overall mitigation, readiness, and testing of the comprehensive plan of WSH and the emergency communication components of that plan.
  • Provide consultation and input regarding the development and revision of hospital policies and ensure that resultant policies comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the work of the facilities staff and evaluate employee performance, and conduct a learning environment.
  • Serve as the hospital program manager for all construction-related activities, oversee, and maintain control of special project assignments, and contractor correspondence, and coordinate with the DSHS office of capital programs.
  • Coordinate with vendor/contractor for technical issues to assist with troubleshooting and repairing complex systems.

Who should apply:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/management, hospital administration, public administration, risk management, or a closely related allied field.   
  • Professional experience in related fields may be substituted year-for-year of education.  
  • Minimum of four years of experience coordinating or supervising physical plan operations in a large-scale inpatient psychiatric hospital. 

Preferred/desired education, experience, and competencies: 

  • Master’s degree in business administration, hospital administration, public administration risk management, or closely allied field.  
  • Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation and Environment of Care Life Safety and Emergency Management standards 
  • Knowledge of National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) codes and building standards 
  • Knowledge of Department of Health requirements 
  • Knowledge of security systems in a hospital setting 
  • Knowledge of electronic and manual key control systems 
  • organizational skills for planning and organizing multi-disciplinary departmental moves 
  • Knowledge of estimating costs of projects, managing efficiencies, and maintaining a budget 
  • Knowledge of environmental service’s controls, policies, and procedures
