The Opportunity:As a member of the Workplace Claims & Accommodation Unit (WACU), you will be a senior level consultant that will work primarily with Reasonable Accommodation requests submitted for workplace accommodations to align with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodation need. The position facilitates WACU programs to enhance deployment of DCYF’s workforce so they can help the Children Youth and Families of Washington to flourish.
Some of what you'll do:- Analyze and interpret complex and sensitive medical information involving reasonable accommodation cases.
- Provide advice and consultation to agency leadership and employees.
- Act as a liaison between agency and healthcare providers.
- Create and maintain legally defensible and binding documentation for reference in future legal proceedings.
- Manage a caseload of complex work-related illness/injury claims.
- Advocate with agency leadership for transitional temporary duty assignments.
- Help employees use Claim programs when appropriate (SAW, Preferred Worker).
- Process claim correspondence.
Required Qualifications:- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as a professional human resource consultant around Workers Compensations claims, and/or Reasonable Accommodation cases AND Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business, human resources, or related field.
This position also requires the following knowledge, skills and abilities: - Skilled in communicating complex concepts orally and in writing.
- Skilled in organizing and prioritizing multi-layered projects with conflicting timelines.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to handle shifting priorities and switch directions quickly while maintaining a calm, professional attitude.
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following: - Six months or more experience using L&I’s Claim and Account Center(CAC), NeoGov and HRMS.
- SHRM-CP/SCP, S/PHR, or other HR professional certification
- Experience with Assault Benefits, working in a correctional environment, either juvenile or adult.
