We are looking for an experienced, courageous, innovative and visionary leader to manage the Office of Equity and champion our equity work across the enterprise. Equally important will be your ability to collaborate and build partnerships with state agencies, the legislature, and external partners. The Office of Equity is housed within the Office of the Governor

As the Director for the Office of Equity, you'll apply your human centered approach in providing a pro-equity, anti-racist strategic vision and direction while facilitating policy and systems changes in state government.  In this role, you'll help state agencies develop and implement equitable policies, practices, and outcomes. You’ll manage, build and lead a team of professionals who are passionate about helping everyone in Washington flourish and achieve their full potential.

Who we are:
In 2021, the legislature and Governor Inslee created the Washington State Office of Equity (“the Office”) to promote equitable access to opportunities, programs, and resources across state government that reduce disparities and improve outcomes statewide (RCW 43.06D.002). The Office of Equity co-created the state’s Pro-Equity Anti-Racism (PEAR) Ecosystem Plan & Playbook with thousands of state employees and community members. The PEAR Plan & Playbook supports the governor’s commitment to be an anti-racist government and helps state agencies to apply an equity lens in all aspects of decision making (Executive Order 22-04). This includes service delivery, programming, policy development, budgeting, and staffing.

Our Vision Everyone in Washington state has full access to the opportunities and resources they need to flourish and achieve their full potential.

Our Mission To promote equitable access to opportunities and resources across state government that reduce disparities and improve outcomes statewide.
  • Lead and direct the mission, vision and operations of the Office. This includes:
