The Wisconsin DNR is hiring an LTE (Limited Term Employee) – Wildlife Damage Program Associate at our Madison Headquarters at GEF 2. Located downtown Madison, WI.

Position Summary
The Wildlife Damage Program Associate will work closely with the Wildlife Damage Specialist on the implementation of several programs including the Wildlife Damage Abatement and Claims Program, the wolf conflict program, the urban wildlife program, and the Deer Donation Program. The person in these positions will perform financial tasks related to each program and assist in the development of educational materials aimed at increasing public awareness of these programs and methods to avoid and mitigate human/wildlife conflicts. Strong organizational and customer service experience are required. Experience producing educational outreach materials and with GIS mapping software is preferred.
25% Fulfill DNR biologist request for wildlife harvest authorizations through the GoWild system and ensure information entered into the Department’s wildlife damage database is accurate and complete.
25% Assist with the processing of nuisance wildlife and wolf damage cooperative agreements, purchase requisitions, and reimbursements. Assist with the development and management of wildlife damage and nuisance program/policies including the administration of the Wildlife Damage Abatement and Control Grant Program and emerging issues such as elk depredation.
25% Assist the Wildlife Damage Specialist with the implementation of the Wildlife Damage Abatement and Claims Program and Wolf Depredation Compensation Program by providing program guidance to the public, county, DNR staff, and stakeholder groups.
25% Review and process permit applications for wildlife causing damage or a nuisance. Coordinate the department's efforts on managing invasive species including feral pigs and mute swans.
Salary Information
This position pays $20.65 per hour and is in the Operations Program Associate classification in pay schedule and range 02-11. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

1) Residency: To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
A Wisconsin resident is a person who:
a. Has established a residence, as defined in s. 6.10(1), in this state not less than 10 days earlier;
b. Has resided in this state for not less than a total of one year out of the immediately preceding 5 years;
c. Is eligible to register to vote in this state; or
d. Is the spouse of a person meeting the requirements of par. (a), (b), or (c).” s.230.03(12), Wis. Stats.

Qualifications
Required:
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers
- Experience with using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Powerpoint, etc)
- Coursework or experience working in wildlife management or a related natural resources field
Preferred:
- A degree in wildlife management or a related natural resources field
- Experience producing educational outreach materials
- Experience with GIS mapping software
